Reign of Fire, the 2025 Annual Special introduced Item Crafting mechanics.
All equipment items have a rarity level: common, uncommon, rare or epic. There is also a special new consumable item: material, that also comes in each of the rarity levels. Equipment items still have a quality tier as in the past. Materials don’t have quality tiers.
Special Servers – Common, Uncommon, Rare and Epic Items
While common, uncommon and rare items may be found on adventures (although the better rarity, the harder it is find and it can only be found later in game). Epic items can only be created through item crafting mechanics explained below.
Refine
If you have 2 identical items, you can refine them. This uses both items and a material of the same rarity. The result is guaranteed – same item type and quality, but a better rarity. It’s not possible to further refine epic items.
Smelt
You can smelt any equipment item to get materials. You can get one material immediately or two if you wait to finish smelting or spend Gold to speed up the process.
The materials you get are always the same rarity as the item that was smelted.
The time required to smelt item (to get 2 materials without Gold) depends on speed.
Forge
This action lets you create a new item. You have to provide 3 materials. You can then see predicted chances of what will be the rarity and quality of the item. The better rarity of materials, the better chances to get a better rarity item in the process.
The type of item is random. There’s equal chance the item will be for the right-hand, left-hand, body, helmet or boots slot. Within each of those categories there’s again equal chance to get any of the specific items for that slot.
You don’t have to accept the first item you are proposed. Instead, you can reforge for Gold. When you do it first time, this will show a second item. You can either select one of the two items, or reforge one of them – it will be replaced with another random item. You can repeat this process, but each reforge costs more Gold. At any point you can only select between 2 items. At the end of the process you can only select one item to keep.
Every time you use the reforge feature, the new item is selected randomly in the same way as the first one.
